The Chateau also has fantastic wildflowers planted around the front garden.
Outside Living
Commanding a hilltop position there are glorious and far reaching views in all directions including the snow- capped Pyrenees. Location
The Chateau is set in beautiful quiet rolling countryside but is also well placed for accessing the beautiful region of the Gers. The local village of La Romieu is under a 5 minute drive from the Chateau and it has 2 restaurants, a small grocery store, boulangerie and tabac. The Roman spa town of Lectoure is 15 minutes away and provides excellent, shopping and recreational facilities whilst the delightful towns of Condom and Agen are all within a thirty minute drive. Although the Gers is renowned for its quiet pace of live, throughout the summer the area comes alive with fetes and special events including the bull fighting at Vic Fezensac in May, the Country and Western Festival at Mirande in July and the Jazz at Marciac in August, to mention just a few. For the more active there are plenty of sporting activities including Golf at Fleurance which is a 15/20 minute drive from the Chateau.
Gers is one of the least populated areas of Europe, devoid of tourists and remains very French, unspoilt and friendly. There are numerous beautiful bastide villages that are well worth a visit especially on the morning of the weekly market. The larger towns of Condom, Agen, Pau, Auch are all accessible. This area of South West France is a gourmet's delight with its foie gras, duck, Armagnac and prunes. There is a wide variety of restaurants to suit all budgets and tastes. Toulouse, Bordeaux and Biarritz are close enough to be visited for the day and during the winter skiing can be enjoyed in the nearby Pyrenees.
